Class Descriptions
All classes begin and end in yoga's relaxation pose called Shavasana where you are guided through an awareness of your body. A very beneficial and healing breathing practice is also taught during the first Shavasana.
Basic
Designed to introduce you to the basic poses and principles of Svaroopa yoga, a Basic class will provided easy directions and explanations, clear demonstrations when needed and the opportunity for questions. This a great class if you are new to yoga or if you would like to stick to basics or learn more details about each posture.
Lesson plans for Basic classes are based on themes that emphasize the primary principles of Svaroopa yoga. They include such themes as: Daily Practice, Lower Spinal Release, Spinal Flexibility, and Abdominals.
Continuing
Using the foundational poses and primary spinal openers that are learned in a Basic class, additional poses are built into that structure. Classes may also include standing & balance poses, or mild & moderate inversions as well as variations in the foundational poses. It's best to start with a Basic or Gentle class before trying a Continuing Class even if you have taken other types of yoga before.
Deeper
This class will give you deeper inner openings on all levels of your being. It includes variations and longer holds of familiar poses. Deeper is designed for experienced Svaroopa students who have been taking classes for a year, have a home practice and know how recognize and deal with relapse. This class is not appropriate for beginners.
Gentle
A class designed for those recovering from injuries, illnesses, or who just want to take it slow and easy. Also a good place for beginners to start. Appropriate for pregnant women although some poses will need to be modified for pregnancy.
