I have been doing 'Deep Release' yoga for 4 years. I have experienced a lessening of joint aches and pains, increased flexibly and range of motion. There has been a consistent decrease in headaches due to stress.
My overall health is improved with fewer colds and less fatigue especially in the winter months. I have also been aware of improvement of my sleep pattern over the years. Falling asleep happens more quickly and sleep is deeper.
Even with all of the above, the part of Deep Release I am most grateful for is the calming of the mind chatter! My mind is less prone to overthinking, hanging on to thoughts, worry and anxiety. It is so easy to do, so gentle on the body. The results are immediate and life changing, physically as well as emotionally and mentally. I am a happier, healthier person thanks to Ann and 'Deep Release'

What impels me to go to Ann Johnson's yoga class -- and to keep going -- is the physical and mental refreshment and reinvigoration provided by each and every class. There can be even spiritual renewal of a kind in that you tend to focus on the essential and the elemental things.
And then there's Ann, who combines an obviously deep knowledge of yoga with a calm and patient personality. She's always ready to give individual attention and to encourage you when you can't seem to achieve quite the right pose or posture.
In short, I highly recommend this class. -- William H

Thank you Ann, from the bottom of my heart! --Susan L.
I keep coming to yoga because I always leave feeling calmer and better than when I arrive.
I am not an athletic person. I tried other yoga classes that made me feel awkward and uncomfortable. I always feel good in one of Ann's classes. Her classes are exactly what I was looking for.
My job demands that I am on my feet for long hours and that I bend, lift and carry heavy, bulky items. My back has never felt this good. --Merrie W.
At the end of the class, I feel like I had
An extended stretch, a yawn...
...both inside and outside.
I walk, think and feel differentley, More present, more aware, calm, accepting.
-- David B.
Every Deep Release Yoga class leaves me feeling, whole, calm, strong, and happy.
After about 7 years of coming to class and practicing this yoga, I remain intrigued and challenged. Ann is a splendid teacher who keeps class interesting and expansive. Deep Release can benefit anyone with a body, I think. Poses can be adapted to accommodate people's physical problems, and Ann is very skilled in doing this.
This yoga is not "just" restorative, though. It keeps unfolding. Sensations and physical connections it has shown me now carry over to help with everyday activities -- standing in line, washing dishes -- and fun ones, like dancing. --Seph D.
I certainly am happy that I was introduced to yoga and in particular Deep Release Yoga.
Having had annual back problems, especially at gardening time, I never dreamed that I could most often control all of this "grief " by learning to relax and also use suggested positions while working and sleeping. Although I don't still do the complete basic four, I do enough each morning of what I learned, to keep my body in shape. I enjoyed Ann, and the others in the class. I wish I could remember all the good tips. Who knows. Maybe someday my schedule will again allow me to take advantage of a structured class experience.

Svaroopa yoga is the only yoga that has really worked for me, I’ve tried several others. I always feel taller and more comfortable in my body after each class. Ann is a superb, knowledgeable and attentive instructor. I recommend both to many people. --Ba S.
"I started yoga about a year ago. My main reason for undertaking this venture was to reduce anxiety and hopefully improve poor sleeping habits, in addition to a chronic sore lower back. Not only was I able to achieve all of these objectives, but my entire life seemed to improve. I felt much more balanced and centered. My overall energy level increased, and I just felt a certain joie de vivre that I hadn't felt for many years." -- Chris K.
"I have found yoga to be beneficial in many ways--emotionally, physically. Yoga helped my right hip stop hurting. Usually when I do yoga I am much more relaxed afterward. My body feels more flexible and less stiff. It's helpful when I can't get to sleep at night, too." -- Diane H.
"When all about you seems hectic, relaxation with Svaroopa yoga can put you in the eye of the storm where it is calm." -- Donna I.
"Svaroopa yoga was something totally new to me when I started at The Yoga Corner. It was just something for me to do for myself. Now, it is an integral and necessary part of my life." -- Lorrene A.
"It was refreshing to be in Maine and the Maritime Provinces doing all the coastal things I love, but nothing refreshes and restores like Svaroopa yoga. It is deep, penetrating and restorative of both mental calm, quiet inside that gets lost too often in daily life and the body just moves like it should afterward. In the beginning classes I took (long ago now), I immediately felt release of tension and it kept pulling me back to class. Now it is a way of life to never get out of bed without doing poses and meditating." -- Abby E.
"At first, I was a little unsure, thinking it might be "too easy going" and maybe not good exercise, but now I am so glad I did!! I really look forward to being there every week because I feel calm and clear-minded afterward. Also, it has really helped to ease the pain and tension in my shoulder and back. I am definitely more self-aware and conscious of my body." -- Angela A.
"I came to an open house at The Yoga Corner. Blankets were laid out on the floor and laying down for the first time in Shavasana [yoga's relaxation pose] was amazing. My body just started to automatically take deep relaxed breaths (having asthma, this is a really good thing for me). I was hooked immediately. I signed up for the class. There is a definite correlation between some of my physical issues and how often I'm doing yoga. I can definitely say it helps keep my physical issues in check. I always seem to feel relaxed and centered after class, which is something I look forward to each week." -- Michele R.
"Svaroopa with Ann has erased a long-term shoulder problem, given me spinal stability, motivated me to take Foundations training, and best of all helped me live each day with more calm and awareness." -- Mary G.
